I do, but there were logistical things that just weren't going to work. The room took the most valuable thing (their idea), and for Sheppard it took his humanity. The whole thing was a test, basically, none of them were going to be harmed, but none of them knew that, and what Sheppard thought happened was that he sacrificed his humanity so his team members would get out of it without any injury or loss. The thing his, he hasn't lost his humanity (it was all just a test, right?) but he doesn't know it.
So, he becomes vaguely robot-like, and Rodney finds he can't do anything under pressure without someone (John) forcing him to. Then he devolves into not being able to do anything without John forcing him to. I had thoughts about having a horrible breakup with Keller (portraying her sympathetically and Rodney as over the edge) and possibly a sexual relationship with John (which John only goes into because he has no humanity, and the only thing he's holding onto is making sure his team has everything they need). Eventually someone (likely Teyla and Ronon) realize that something is going on with John, get him to admit what he thinks happened, and then Rodney says 'duh, you idiot, you still have your humanity if you're still looking out for your team' and then the semi-happy ending of years and years of therapy for everyone. :D?
The problem was with Rodney's devolution; I couldn't get it to work out, and when I talked it out with soleta the conclusions we kept coming to were seriously fucked up and I couldn't get it back around to the semi-happy ending, and I didn't want to write a major tragedy, so. *shrug* I really like this opening bit, though.
